My Village School – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vidyalaya
My village is a small, modern-styled village that is home to my school, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vidyalaya. Situated near the school is a meandering stream, adding to the natural beauty of the surroundings. The school building itself is semi-circular in shape.
The name of our school, ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vidyalaya,’ was perhaps chosen to inspire students to become as brave and self-respecting as Shurveer Shivaji Maharaj. The building has four floors, with the ground floor housing the library, laboratory, and student warehouse. On the first floor, there are separate spacious rooms for teachers and the headmistress, as well as a large prayer hall. This hall serves as a venue for various school programs and events, including those held during the Ganapati festival and Navratri. Additionally, yoga classes are conducted here.
The third and fourth floors accommodate classes from the fifth to tenth grade. Each class consists of four sections, and our school has a student population exceeding two thousand. All classrooms in the school are clean, well-lit, and properly ventilated. The teachers in our school are experts in their respective subjects. They deliver their lessons with clarity and discipline. Our Physical Education (PT) teachers guide us in different sports and drills. Thanks to their efforts, our school has won numerous gold medals and other accolades in state-level competitions. In fact, just last year, a girl from our school won a silver medal in an interstate weightlifting competition.
Our school also takes care of the needs of economically disadvantaged students. They provide free school uniforms and textbooks to those in need, as well as raincoats for the monsoon season. Mr. Sachin Mane, in particular, is a well-liked figure among the students.
The cleanliness of our classrooms and premises is maintained by our janitors. Uncle Chopped, who takes care of our school garden, admonishes naughty boys who attempt to pluck flowers, while the flower-loving girls are allowed to pick a rose occasionally. Every day, we garland the photo of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge.
In addition to academics, our school encourages participation in drama recitals, essay competitions, and elocution contests. This year, our teacher, Mr. Ghare, was honored with the “Ideal Teacher” award. Our school consistently ranks among the top five in the “Clean School Competition.”
Apart from excelling in academics, we actively take part in various competitions and bring laurels to our school. We understand the importance of upholding the school’s reputation and never engage in any behavior that would tarnish its name. We hold deep affection for our school and teachers because they guide us with care and dedication. Our school is not just a place of learning but also a center of knowledge and good manners.
