Amendment to the Right to Education Act! Now fifth, eighth annual examination Educational Policy law fifth and eighth Annual Examination in Maharashtra state
The education department in the state has made significant changes to the Right to Education Act of 2011, making it mandatory for students in the fifth and eighth grades to pass an annual examination. This amendment aims to enhance the evaluation process and ensure academic progress for students.
Ranjitsinh Deol, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, issued a gazette notification announcing the implementation of this new policy. As per the provisions of the Right to Education Act, students from class I to VIII are already subjected to continuous comprehensive assessment. However, the recent amendment requires the introduction of formal exams for students in the fifth and eighth grades.
Under the amended regulations, students failing in the fifth or eighth grade will not be promoted to the next grade unless they pass a subsequent chance given to them. This provision ensures that students who struggle academically receive appropriate support and additional opportunities to improve.
